Hi, I’m Sdu

I’m a Senior Consultant at Daemon, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I work across mobile applications, backend systems, web platforms, cloud services and systems integration. That has taken me from Kotlin and React Native mobile apps to services built with C#/.NET, TypeScript, Go and Elixir, supported by Vue, PostgreSQL and AWS.

I enjoy the kind of work where the problem is not neatly contained in a ticket. I like staying close to the code while helping a team make sound technical decisions and carry them through to a useful result.

My work has spanned teams and products at Sainsbury’s, Amazon Just Walk Out, AJ Bell, Domestic & General, Famous Brands and SPAR, across retail, financial services and insurance.

Outside client work, I build things that I want to exist. Duun is a task-management platform with a permission-scoped MCP server for working with tasks through AI tools. I also publish and maintain Slim Launcher, an open-source Kotlin Android app with more than 100,000 downloads and over 350 stars on GitHub.

I have co-hosted 34 episodes of ZATechRadio, spoken at JoziJS and shared what I have learned through engineering sessions and community conversations about building software, growing as an engineer and working in tech in South Africa.
